The Wisconsin Department of Transportation welcomes our many partners in traffic safety from across the state and nation to the 48th Annual Governor’s Conference on Highway Safety, August 28-30, 2023 at the Kalahari Convention Center and Resort, Wisconsin Dells.

The Governor’s Conference will provide attendees exceptional opportunities to learn more about current evidence-based best practices in education, enforcement, and developing partnerships. With our Strategies Toward ZERO and putting the Safe System Approach to work with you, we will make an impact on traffic safety in Wisconsin. We appreciate your attendance and look forward to collaborating with all of you as we continue to push to prevent traffic fatalities and serious injuries on Wisconsin roads. As planning for the 2023 conference continues, any updates will be made on the conference website. Those who have attended the conference in previous years will also receive email updates. Please contact Tina Bondurant with any questions.

MESSAGE FROM GOVERNOR EVERS

Welcome to the 48th annual Governor’s Conference on Highway Safety. This yearly gathering of Wisconsin’s top traffic safety experts is critical in our efforts to keep our families, communities, and roads safe.

From the education outreach that keeps bicyclists and pedestrians safe, to the crash data analysis that informs improvement projects, or the lessons learned from major incidents; each session of this conference is an opportunity to learn something new and improve those ongoing efforts.

We look forward to learning more about the work of the speakers who are joining us at the conference this year, along with the innovations that will come from the collaboration between Wisconsin’s state agencies, local departments, and advocacy groups.

Many of the conference attendees have dedicated their careers to keeping our communities safe. These hardworking public servants are officers, first responders, engineers, health officials and advocates. These are difficult but rewarding jobs that ensure our communities are the best they can be throughout Wisconsin.

On behalf of the state of Wisconsin, thank you to all attendees for your service and commitment to safety. We are grateful for what you do, and as governor, I look foward to continuing to support your work and to working together to create a transportation system that is sage, reliable, and that Wisconsin needs to support a 21st-century workforce and economy.

Once again, thank you and enjoy the 48th Governor’s Conference on Highway Safety.
