SERVICE | MENTORSHIP | LIFETIME ACHIEVEMENT 

The 2024 WEM Conference will again honor the tradition of presenting awards to three individuals who have made important contributions to emergency management.

Eligibility for the Service Award, Mentorship Award, and Lifetime Achievement Award is open to professionals, volunteers, and private sector partners in emergency management, homeland security, and related fields.

Award nominations are currently open, with a final submission deadline of 11:59pm on Friday, February 2, 2024. Please submit nominations to janell.rucinski@widma.gov using the forms below.  


Service Award

Presented to a person who directs their time and energy for the greatest impact by incorporating new ideas, technology, and other strategies to maximize a positive impact on the state or in the community they serve. Recipients are cutting-edge idea people who are creative, innovative, fearless, progressive and act as change agents.

Mentorship Award

Presented to an individual for their role in supporting, encouraging, and promoting a positive and inclusive environment, and for contributing to the professional and personal development of others. Mentoring involves not just successfully directing responses or projects, but also providing guidance and motivation in the context of the interests, passions, and personal circumstances of those who are learning about their position or job duties.

Lifetime Achievement Award

Presented to an individual who has made outstanding or substantial contributions and demonstrated accomplishments at the local, state, or national level over an entire career. Individuals remain eligible for up to two years after their date of retirement.
